Forms are a powerful way to collect contact details from your website visitors. With a strong call to action and a user-friendly form, youโre already opening new doors for your sales team.
With the Leadfeeder app, you can track form submissions on your website and identify the individuals behind the submissions.
Even if a visitor hits 'Submit' but doesnโt complete the form correctly, Dealfront still records the data they entered. This is called abandoned form tracking. If they later fix the form and submit it properlyโgreat! If not, youโll still see the partial data.
To enable this, head to Settings > Company > Website Tracker >then Form Tracking and switch it on.
Hereโs how Dealfrontโs Form Tracking works in 3 simple steps:
First, a visitor lands on your website.
Next they submit a form (or try to).
Then, their input data is attached to their visit in your Leadfeeder Activity Timelineโwhether the server recorded it or not.
And if we recognize that visitor from the past 180 days via cookies, weโll enrich their visit history and connect the dots.
Youโre in control of what gets tracked. In your settings, youโll find 3 options under Data Collection Preference.
Disabled โ No personal data is collected.
Configured Fields Only โ Only data from mapped fields (like email or name) is collected.
All Input Fields โ All form input values are collected, except sensitive info like passwords or credit cards. This can include searches on your website.
You can configure which fields to track. Dealfront automatically identifies fields like name, email, or phone. Not seeing the desired field from your form listed? Submit the form yourself once, then refresh the settingsโnew fields will show up.
For cases where input fields are not auto-configured, you can also manually configure each input field with a Dealfront property.
You can use Inspect Element in your browser to find the correct input name for each field. Right click in the input box you want to identify the name of, select 'Inspect Element', then look for 'name=' in the highlighted code:
Back in your Dealfront settings, select this input field and choose the Dealfront property it represents.
Click on Add.
You can also exclude forms you donโt want to track.
Set up rules based on:
Page URL
Form ID or class
And
Input name
You can even use wildcards to exclude multiple forms at once. This example will exclude all forms that have form IDโs that start with โcontactโ.
Many search bars on websites use the same HTML form tags as contact forms. So if youโre seeing searches pop up as form submissions, you can exclude them in the settings.
Want to only see people who filled out forms?
You can create a custom feed using the Form Fill filterโitโs that easy.
Everything in Dealfront is designed with privacy and GDPR compliance in mind.
You decide what data is collected. Always ensure youโve collected appropriate consent from your users. If you have any questions on how to make your forms compliant with GDPR, itโs best to consult your legal team, who can give you the best advice that fits the specific needs of your organization.ย
If form tracking isnโt working:
Make sure your form is wrapped in <form> tags.
Avoid using iframes.
Ensure form tracking is enabled.
and
Check that input fields have been mapped and submitted at least once.
